Before attending law school, Mr. Silva served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Flight Officer (Electronic Counter-Measures Officer) in the EA-6B carrier-based electronic warfare jet. His service included the first Gulf War, after which he studied National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where he earned an M.A. in National Security Affairs (Foreign Affairs). He then served a joint staff tour as the Special Operations Officer for counter-drug operations in the J-3, Operations Directorate of the US Southern Command, Quarry Heights, Republic of Panama. Mr. Silva graduated from FSU College of Law cum-laude in 2000.
